Spooky, But Make It Everyday: How to Add Halloween Energy to Your Wardrobe
Halloween style doesn’t have to mean orange-and-black everything or waiting until October 31st to dress a little darker. Some of the best spooky-season style is subtle enough to wear all fall.
The easiest place to start? Texture. Black lace, sheer mesh, leather, velvet, distressed denim and anything with a little shine instantly give an outfit a darker, moodier feel. Try a lace top under an oversized blazer, a sheer layer with your favorite denim, or a leather jacket thrown over something feminine.
Next, think about details. Silver hardware, studs, chains, dark florals, crosses, celestial jewelry and vintage-inspired accessories can make even a basic jeans-and-tee outfit feel a little more October without looking like you’re headed to a costume party.
And don’t be afraid of a darker color palette. Black is the obvious choice, but deep wine, plum, chocolate brown, charcoal, smoky gray and dark green all bring that slightly mysterious fall energy while still working with the rest of your closet.
The trick is mixing something a little dark with something you’d wear any other day. A romantic lace top with worn-in denim. A black mini with an oversized sweater and boots. A sheer blouse with a leather jacket. A simple outfit finished with layered silver jewelry.
Basically, dress like you might be a little haunted, but you still have somewhere to be.
Spooky season is almost here. You don’t need a costume to start dressing for it. 🖤
Stay Wilde.
